Project Description
Interventional Headache Care
Certain patients have headaches that start from certain scalp nerves, such as the occipital and auriculotemporal nerves. Numbing these nerves with local anesthetics can help to stop a headache cycle. Some quick tips about peripheral nerve blocks can be seen below.
Most peripheral nerve blocks take about 15 minutes.
A tiny needle is used to perform injections. Injections may feel like small pinches.
Certain patients benefit from a sphenopalatine ganglion block, which is administered using a soft catheter.
Peripheral nerve blocks are typically performed using a local anesthetic called bupivicaine.
Peripheral nerve blocks are typically performed once every 6 weeks to dull or prevent headaches. We look forward to taking care of you!
