Project Description
Interventional Headache Care
During a trigger point injection, we identify areas in head and neck muscles that are very irritable, and inject them with a local anesthetic to provide relief. Some quick tips about trigger point injections can be seen below.
Injections typically take about 15 minutes.
A tiny needle is used to perform injections. Injections may feel like small pinches.
You may need up to 20 shots in all, and you’ll get an equal number on each side of your head and neck. If you have migraine pain in one particular spot, you may need more shots there.
Trigger point injections are typically performed using a local anesthetic, such as lidocaine or bupivacaine.
Trigger point injections are typically performed as needed to dull or prevent headaches. We look forward to taking care of you!
